I would like to know if it ́s possible to have notifications on the screen chessboard without using an external App.
It would be nice for example to have a notification of a friend who would like to challenge us without beeing connected at he same time…

Direct challenge notices can come through - but it is very specific conditions.
What other notifications would you like?

Notifications from Chess.com or Lichess as a new friend request.
We don’t know when a friend wants to chalenge us unlesss he is connected as the same time and making the request live only.
Why?
I bought this Chess board to play against my son who is living with his mother and doesn’t have a smartphone. So if he cannot see notifications of a match, I can’t play against him on Chess.com…

If the board is on it will receive challenge requests. And a person can send a challenge from the board to people who are online.
Are you looking to get notified on your phone of a request from his board?
