# Piece not being recognized

Just got done playing a game and went to go set the pieces back up and one of the black knights is not being recognized. Made sure firmware was updated, and calibration instructions on the website are outdated. Any help with this, or is the fix to just get a new piece? Thanks in advance

Typically the pieces do not go bad (as in once good, always good) - but it is possible in theory.

Using the board editor mode - does the problem follow the knight or the knight’s home square?

Funny enough, the board editor is recognizing it as a rook. Says it’s a rook everywhere on the board

Follow up - it now thinks it’s a white bishop.
