Different style pieces?

I did some more investigation on how the pieces work, and think I have an idea now. I bought a multi-frequency RFID/NFC reader/writer that should have been able to detect the signal if it was there, but it didn’t find anything either.

The only option I’m seeing here is to either design a snap on 3D printed shell for each piece, which would mean bigger pieces by default, or cutting off the un-needed parts of a spare set of pieces and gluing the bases into something 3D printed. :joy:

I’m leaning toward snap on facades that will make them bigger, which I’d personally prefer anyway. I just have to get my resin printer going and measure the pieces to model around them.

I just ordered a ChessUp 2, and I was wonerding about making custom pieces, hence the reason I’m here. I was wondering if it might be poosible to buy a second set of pieces and canibalize them for the chip to add into a custom 3D printed piece. I was thinking maybe even making it a cartridge, so the shell of the piece could be swapped, with the chip being in the base that can be swapped to other peices I made.

Edit: I just realized the pieces are very expensive by themselves.Golly, I wish the chips were sold as a stand alone.

I think it’s not only about a chip but you’ve all the touch thing and the technology is propriety of BryghtLab and they don’t really want us to try revert engineering their pieces, which I can understand thus painting might be the only customization until they sell alternative set styles
