I created a test tournament on https://challonge.com/ to know if it meets what we need for our chess.com club to play live tournaments.
I would like to start with only a few ppl otherwise it will to long to test. I don’t know if it is necessary to create an account to join of not, let me know. There is not yet a starting date, I’ll do that when some ppl have joined. Also the setting is ‘swiss system’. Normally that would be fine.
This won’t force us to play on a certain day and time like it would be directly on chess.om. So the way to work with this is to befriend the opponent you have to play. Then you can challenge each other directly OTB on the ChessUp 2 board (even against the ChessUp 1 board it would work this way). Because on the ChessUp 2 board we don’t need our phone there is a opportunity to talk to each other while playing. We have a ChessUp Discord with atm 5 channels to voice-chat while playing: ChessUp. It’s easier to talk while you challenge each other so you know if something doesn’t work and it is fun .
The intention is to finish the matches as quickly as possible. (I live in Belgium-Europe so the time difference and the daily schedules can make a difference). In the near future the intention would be that there is 1 person per continent organizing tournaments and of course also an occasional tournament for everyone.
I’ll make an announcement in the ChessUp club on chess.com about this asap. We will see when this can start but I hope soon!
I’ve just made an account and given you a follow but I can’t see anyway to join the tournament, maybe you need to add me to this? Im in the UK so our time difference isn’t much. Hopefully we can have a deciding game soon after our 1-1 in the daily tournament .
Nice! I have created an account, and used your URL. I can see the tournament but there is not a way to join the tournament. I live in the same time zone as you live, so no time differences on our side. Looking forward to test this option!
We need some more players. So hang on a bit. I’ll try to make an announcement inside the ChessUp club asap, I am at work now and I don’t know when I can at home. Monday morning I will have time for sure.
