Hi everyone :waving_hand:

To help keep the ChessUp Community organized and easy to navigate, here is a simple Tag Guide for assigning tags when creating new topics. Tags make it much easier for users to search for solutions, follow improvement ideas, and find relevant discussions.

Topic Type Recommended Tags
Improvements ideas, improvements, community-feedback, user-driven
Hardware Issues hardware-issues, repair, warranty
Software / App app, firmware, bluetooth, online-play
Gameplay challenge, tactics, training, engine-strength
Uncategorized community-feedback (default)

Useful for discussions about new features, improvements, and community proposals.

Recommended tags:
ideas, improvements, community-feedback, user-driven

:wrench: Hardware Issues

For problems with the physical board or chess pieces.

Recommended tags:
hardware-issues, repair, warranty

Typical examples:

  • LEDs not lighting
  • Sensors failing or misreading pieces
  • Board not charging
  • Charger or USB-C port issues

:mobile_phone: Software / App / Online Play

For issues or feedback related to the ChessUp app and online play.

Recommended tags:
app, firmware, bluetooth, online-play

Typical examples:

  • Lichess connection problems
  • Firmware update bugs
  • Bluetooth pairing issues
  • App crashes or delays

:brain: Gameplay / Strategy / Community Challenges

For threads about learning, improvement, or playing with others.

Recommended tags:
challenge, tactics, training, engine-strength

Typical examples:

  • Beat Stockfish challenges
  • Best training setups
  • Strategy discussions
  • Playing online with the community

Please add 1–3 tags that match your topic.
No need to be perfect — tags can always be updated later. If you’re unsure which tag fits, use:

community-feedback

(Moderators and Regulars can adjust tags later to keep things tidy.)

If you think a tag is missing, reply here and suggest it. New tags will be added when there’s a clear need, to keep the system clean and useful.

Hi @Jeff and @Richard :waving_hand:

Quick follow-up from the October discussion — now that the Community Tag Guide wiki is set up,
would it make sense to pin the wiki for easier visibility?

This wiki isn’t a discussion thread — it’s a reference resource meant to:
• help new members tag their topics correctly
• reduce duplicate questions
• make support topics easier to find and organize

If pinning isn’t possible, no worries at all — just thought I’d ask since it’s a
community tool rather than a normal thread.
