How is development going? I’d be very interested in signing up for the beta when ready
In the middle of it now - developing the various personalities. We are still several weeks away from beta - but absolutely our beta testers will be able to access it early.
If you are not already on our beta testing list - please email info@bryghtlabs.com and ask to join beta testing (just provide your board serial number which is found in settings).
When can we expect release of first beta
Probably late November - but no exact date yet.
Can we expect to have personality bots? Capablanca, etc..
How relevant do you think existing personality bots are, and do you think it’s possible to achieve something accurate with current technology?
Getting an Ai to copy a specific person is tough. You can copy over their preferred openings and copy their relative strength. You can definitely come up with banter that is on character and that is fun.
Our bots are not real people - but meant for fun/entertaining interactions.
I also noticed that on the CHESSUP2 box, there seem to be around 10 people, and they are labeled as “Interactive.”
I think these interactive bots will be like real people you can play against, each with a different difficulty level.
When you play against them, if they make a bad move or a blunder, they might react, for example by showing a surprised response or playing a striking move.
The idea feels more like interacting with a real person rather than just playing against a normal chess engine. That’s how I understand it.
Could you explain who these people on the box actually are, what they truly represent, how these interactive bots will work, and when they will be released?
This component will be overhauled. And that will be those interactive people/bots. I don’t know the timeframe for this, but it won’t take much longer I hope. This should be in beta at the end of last year, but there will be some delays. It’s a major change.
Will the existing bots still be available as is or will the interactive bots replace them?
How do I sign up for the beta?
I’m also very interested in the on-board interactive bots it’d be a nice alternative to the chess.com bots and you wouldn’t have to worry about having a chess.com account or having to login to it.
If you want to join beta just send an email to info@bryghtlabs.com with subject ‘Join beta’ and tell them you want to join the beta group and give your serial number off your board inside the mail. The it will be added to that update pool.
For what the bots will be like I really don’t know. I am a user like you so we will have to wait a little bit. But I know the developers are busy with it.
Thank you! Could you please describe how these interactive bots will work and what makes them special? I’m very excited about them.
Interactive bots are characters with dialogue and reactions for the match. Most bots will be built in to the board and work offline. They will run on our embedded Ai - which is getting a new update soon with increased elo range (up to 2000).
We are releasing family accounts (multiple logins per board) and then our bots over these next months.
That sounds awesome. If I can make a suggestion I hope the ChessUp 2 keeps a few of the wifi Stockfish bots/levels, at least the max one and I hope the wifi powered assist features remain.
Correct - the stockfish abilities do not go away.
Stockfish is perfect for analysis and study / max strength stuff.
Stockfish is terrible at being a mid level and low level bot - so we apply our own Ai there and keep stockfish at the high end.
Very excited about the family accounts! This sounds like a beautiful feature to me! It would be awesome if you guys can link OTB game title automatically to the profile that is currently running! Overall very very happy with the board and support from you guys!
