Is there a way to export a PGN with the simpler notation? In the android app it always includes the initial square, and chess.com won’t import this.

We have this on the list to fix. Note that chess.com website might accept it - and lichess.org does too. We also have analysis in the app as well (bare bones for now).
Right now all the coding effort is on bringing in chess.com to the app - so it won’t be fixed until October or later. Sorry for the issue.
