Is there anyway that the board can communicate with my phone or tablet to make a sound whenever someone makes a move?
Hi @Shoyt55 ![]()
As far as I know, the ChessUp board doesn’t currently have any sound notifications or a way to make your phone/tablet play a sound when a move is made. It only gives visual LED and on-screen feedback right now.
It’s a great idea though — a few of us have suggested adding sound or voice feedback (for example in my Community Ideas and Improvements thread). Hopefully that’s something they’ll add in a future update!
Yes, it’s absolutely crazy they did not think to do this…it would have been REAL CHEAP. Nothing worse than playing a 5 min game (for instance), waiting for someone to accept a challenge and while you eyes naturally wonder away from the board to…check out what the cat is doing or whatever, come back and see you have lost 15 seconds.
100% agree that there should be sound. Got gifted a board today, opened up, and first thing I was shocked to realize is that there are no sound notifications. Playing this in my sun filled living room, I can hardly see the lights (even set to high), so it’s easy to miss that it’s my turn.
If you set up the game through the app, the app makes sound. But we recommend using ChessUp 2 without the app for regular game play. The app is mainly for lessons and game review.
I have ChessUp 2 and I like it. The only thing stopping me from loving it is it not having a feature to make a noise when the opponent plays their move on the board. I have to constantly keep looking back at the board and pray I don’t lose time in between looks.
There’s gotta be some sort of fix for this?
