Bug report: Best Move feature issues after firmware 4.2.1

Hi ChessUp team,

I’ve updated my board to firmware 4.2.1 and noticed two problems with the new Best Move feature:

1. Best Move disappears on player’s turn

When it’s the AI’s turn, Best Move shows correctly.

As soon as it becomes my turn, the suggestion disappears.

It should stay visible until I play a move.

2. Best Move vanishes after resuming a saved game

If I save and then resume a game, Best Move is no longer shown.

Save screen.

Resume game screen.

Before saving – Best Move visible.

After resuming – Best Move missing.

Test setup:

AI level: Stockfish 1600 Novice.

Settings: Evaluation ON, Best Move ON, Hint Limit OFF.

Could you check if this is a firmware bug in 4.2.1?

Hi @staff @admins, I’ve also submitted this through the official ClickUp bug form (serial number 551720037, firmware 4.2.1). Please connect this forum post with that report.

Thanks!

Hi Ivara96 - No need to tag us on the forum - we read and respond to all the posts.

As long as the bug reports are placed the team will investigate and resolve. The best move option not persisting on resume is something they will fix.

On the other one, the duration of the best move might be intentional, but the team will look at it and fix or reply to the bug report.

Not sure if this is still happening, but before the latest update… the Move Feedback was also disappearing after a Save and Resume.

Yeah I can see how we could forget to make this part of the save game structure. I am confident Richard will resolve it in an upcoming release.

Hi ChessUp team,

Just following up to ask if there’s any update or ETA on this bug (Best Move disappearing on the player’s turn and after resuming a saved game).

It’s still reproducible on my board (serial 551720037, firmware 4.2.1), and I’ve already submitted the same details through the official ClickUp form.

Could you please confirm if this has been logged internally for a future firmware patch?

Thanks again for your time and for checking into it!

Bug fixes can be weeks or even months. Depends on how critical the bug is and also available resources to fix it.

This one will likely be a couple of months.

If you filed a bug report, then we email you to notify you when it is fixed.
