Does anyone else here have experience using their ChessUp 2 with Chessiverse by means of the Chessconnect browser extension? I’ve used it daily for a few months now, love it, look forward to the day when Chessiverse is listed along with Chess.com and Lichess in my ChessUp 2 display. But in the meantime Chessconnect has worked well for playing full games against their bots.
A couple of days back I discovered two other game options on Chessiverse, New Master Position (which starts you in the midst of a classic middlegame), and Classic Endgame, both of which I’m excited about because I don’t always have time to play a full game, much less multiple ones in a day, and I need all the practice I can get.
New Master Position seems to work just fine with the ChessUp 2. I select the game and a bot and it immediately begins, with squares on the board lighting up showing me how to set the initial position. Once I’ve done that I make my first move and the game against the bot proceeds.
Classic Endgame, unfortunately, does not seem to work. I select the game and the bot, set up the initial position as indicated by the lights which go out as I do, as usual. But then I make my first move and the board seems to go dead — no lights for my move, no lights showing the bot’s response, no lights when I touch pieces or put them on wrong squares. And moving pieces does not cause the corresponding pieces to move on my laptop display. Also, if it means anything, I get an odd graphic on the ChessUp 2 display, no words.
Disappointing! I’d like to play Classic Endgame because I think they would be shortest of all. And I will, just on my laptop display. But I’d sure like to be playing them on the ChessUp 2.
Any advice on how to work around this problem would be welcome. In the meantime I’m happy to just wait for true Chessiverse integration, which will likely make this and any other problem go away.
