Any idea if the board will match the option in chess.com to hide ratings of opponents during games? As well as for when lichess is available to have the same option for gameplay?
Great idea, that would be a nice feature!
No timeline on this - but because it will likely be solved another way.
The game play screen will soon be a carousel of different screens. Some of those do not have the rating.
The catch is the launch screen might show the opponent info.
But the carousel will be first and then we will revisit this feature proposal. We might elect not to enable this setting. Users still may be able to accomplish the effect by not using the opponent info carousel screen. But TBD as the exact content for each screen is still being resolved.
Thanks for getting back and explaining this
This is a great idea. Also will like to see the ChessCom profile pictures, not that blank avatar.
I hope one of the modes in the carousel just shows the clock and the material difference, I prefer not knowing anything about who I am playing so I can focus on the game without any psychological bias.
Totally agree @Skerfy_McMurphy
I personally could care less (gotta say for as we all know, developers may think something is more important than it may be just because a few people request it…). Actually, I set any account I play from for ratings from -25 pts to + infinity, that way I do know (without even looking) I’m playing someone capable of beating me half the time or more and thus I need to be wary.
I try to take Fischer’s remark to heart: “I don’t believe in psychology. I believe in good moves. All that matters on the chessboard is good moves.”
