Lazy Susan alternative

One of the biggest first world chess problems is dealing with the rotation of the board when the colors are randomly assigned. The lazy Susan works well, but the drawback is that it is heavy, bulky and noticeably raises the board.

These pot and pan protectors are a great alternative plus they fit in the carrying case for travel. The smaller ones do not extend beyond the board and when the board is on them it is easily and smoothly slid and/or rotated.

And of course you may be able to use anything such as a piece of felt or cut a swatch from an old shirt. I didn’t try though because I had the pot protectors on hand.

Thank you for the alternative to the Lady Susan. What a great idea!
