Learning to play chess and beat Bot level 7

Hi,

I have been playing chess for a while now and never put a lot of time into actually learning openings etc. What would be your suggestion for someone who likes to get better at the game? Any suggestion for good books that can help you learn the game in a practical way?

Thanks!

Hi @Forza_nl have you seen the lessons that are free with the ChessUp board? If you are not familiar, download the app. Below is a link to an article on how it works.

Thanks! Do you have experience with the lessons? Are they good for learning the game? Or is Chess.com better?

The lessons in the ChessUp are are great. Lessons are also periodically added to continue the learning process. If you have an idea of what you are looking for, you can use the search functionality to find openings, endings and other mid games. You can also play through some historical games with an explanation of what happened and what options could have come from different choices.

Thanks! What would be your advice to start learning? Just begin with the first lesson? I checked openings but only find 2 trainings

There are a number of ways to start the learning process using the ChessUp app. If there are specific openings you want to use, you can play 2 player or against the AI using the app. In the game setup there are advanced options where you can choose the opening you want to play through. If you’re new to chess, then start with the beginner lessons. Openings, mid game and end game strategies are all great ways to start. Then you can move through more advanced levels where you learn additional strategies. Make sure you have the audio turned up so you hear the description of what is happening and why.

Thanks for the advice! For now I will start with the beginner lessons and also try out the game setup advanced options to choose the opening.
