No Light Options

I just ordered a ChessUp 2 Board. I look forward to all the amazing features it offers!

I have not seen an answer to the question I am going to ask, apologies if there already is one.

Are there different options to play with no light assistance?

Examples:

  1. No lights show for Player A, but they do show when Player A needs to move Player B’s piece.

  2. No lights show for Player A, but they do show for Player B in a game that is being played directly OTB by both players.

  3. No lights show for either Player A or B in a game that is being played directly OTB by both players.

(I believe it is implied that the board would light up if a move was illegal, but otherwise no lights as mentioned in the scenarios above.)

I think you can only adjust the light system when you play 2 players OTB. Then by choosing the assistance level, you decide what kind of guidance will be shown, for example, one player can only see legal moves, while the other one has suggestions with good/bad moves and blunders. Of course, if you play with the local bot, the same happens, lights are different depending on the chosen assistance level.

Other than that, I don’t think you can adjust it at the moment. During the games with people or bots via chess.com you always have the legal moves shown for you, and the opponent’s movement, so you can adjust the pieces.

Yes, this feature is coming in update 5.0.0. Not here yet but be patient and I expect it to come later this month or next month.

UPDATE - I received the ChessUp 2 board and the lights are PERFECT.

I don’t know exactly what I was expecting, but I was worried about the chess board being too colorful, distracting, blinding, etc.

The colors are so well integrated!

I don’t care for a no light feature after receiving the ChessUp board. The lights are just fine.

Thank you Chess Up!!!
