Possible Chessable integration?

I use Chessable every day. The fact I can use ChessUp 2 with the chessconnect app is a gamechanger for me. To be able training my opening courses, tactics puzzles, endgame techniques directly on the board instead of only on a screen is truly a big difference. Also it helps seeing things ingame.

If this would be possible without an extra step directly otb itself would be fantastic. No extra device needed to do all the training :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:.

I use chessable on a daily basis. I tested with Chessconnect with chessable. I see the potential but had some bugs (some squares on the chessup2 do light up for no reason and at some point in the opening line, the moves werenā€™t registered anylonger).

For opening learning I think it is good. It brings muscle memory to actually make the moves, I think it is great. For puzzles, you have to set the board every time which is a bit more boring but why not.

For a direct integration in the ChessUp with no Chessconnect intermediate, it would be nice if :

  • the board to setup is shown on the ChessUp screen to help to set it without the need of the phone.
  • The timer in chessable only starts once the board is fully set up.
  • Any wrong move would trigger something on the ChessUp. Again, it is better if I donā€™t need to have the phone next to me.
  • For the course selection I think it is fine if we rely on the phone. That said, please note that chess.com allows an import of all chessable course. So maybe instead of chessable integration, you could directly do it in the chess.com environment. That would be more consistent with what already works for chess.com.

Thank you for pointing me to the Chessconnect app, I didnā€™t know it existed. I downloaded it from the App Store for my iPad and I was able to connect it via Bluetooth to the Chessup2 board. It works well with Chessable and the Movetrainer. I can now practice my openings over the board, which is exactly what I wanted to do. I donā€™t mind needing my iPad (or phone). As far as it being buggy, I think if you read the Chessconnect tips on ā€˜how to move the piecesā€™ (on their website) it will help to minimize bugs with moving the pieces. Seems to work great so far. I have not tested it with Android or the browser extension yet, but it will probably work just as well or better. Thank you so much! I love my Chessup2!

Using the Chessconnect app a bit moreā€¦ I did find a few bugs with Chessableā€¦castling can be very buggy and also if you make the wrong moves in the Movetrainer the lights on the board freak out and things go wonky, lolā€¦but if you make all the right moves and donā€™t castle everything works great! :+1::laughing: Too bad the code is not public on GitHub, Iā€™m a software engineer and would have loved to help fix the bugs. Oh well.
