Hi
I’ve been testing ChessUp 2 for a month now and the board is wonderful!
As a very beginner I have a few questions/suggestions regarding the features. I apologize in advance if some have already been discussed and I missed them
Will it be possible to rotate the display in the board editor when I play as black?
Now when I set the pieces with the board rotated from black’s perspective, the display is upside down and does not rotate, like for example when playing with an opponent on chess.com
Regarding bots: not all of them are available in ChessUp 2. For example, there is a permanent creator category on chess.com which is not present on the board.
Will there be an option to resume a game in two-player mode after a break. For example, one day I start a game with my son, I turn off ChessUp 2 and will we be able to resume the game from the same position the next day?
Adding clocks to games with bots - both chess.com and internal ones. Good practice before playing with real people. I would love to have this to make it more “real” before I try with real opponents as I’m too weak now to play with people. If not chess. com a least internal AI could have such an option.
Editing games in the ChessUp app. Changing/ adding names etc. It would be good if it could import the date of the game right away too.
It would be great to have a ChessUp desktop app to analyze games more conveniently on my computer instead of my phone. Are you planning to release such a version?
Best Regards!
Yes in a future release. We will have a board editor flow update - where when you select to play the black side, it will rotate.
We will work on adding these. We regularly add new bots and I think these are coming up soon.
Yes this is coming as well. You can save a 2 player game and when entering the 2 player game mode again it will ask you if you want to resume.
This is something we can do with our internal bots. Good suggestion. The chess.com bots would be more complicated - as it is not our platform running those.
A moment after sending this post I realized that the AI doesn’t have to “think” and “ponder” about the next move. It makes a move half a second after my move, but if you could simulate such a process that the AI does “think” a bit about the next move depending on the level of advancement, that would be great.
All the best!
Yeah exactly. We will have better control over think time with our own bots and not Chess.com’s. That is why a timed bot game will be more likely with our bots in the development roadmap.
@grabbe @jeff
We’ll need to add this to the list of things to look at. I think it would just be 2 player and AI games?
Yes, I meant the organization of games played with the internal AI on ChessUp 2 board and in two player mode (on the board) because now games are imported without the date of the game, time. You can’t edit them or change the names. Which would make their analysis easier.
I have already written to support about importing games and strange gaps between numbers and that not all of them are imported. It looks like the screenshot.
And if a web version of this application appears, it will be even better and more convenient to analyze games.
Unless all games are to be imported to the chess.com database in the future? Will there be a division?
Games played on the chess.com platform with bots and other people will be available for analysis on chess.com and games played on the board with the internal AI and in 2 player mode will be available in the ChessUp app? (mobile and hopefully web version)
We are still talking to Chess.com about the potential to bring all games to one place.
But I expect it to stay that anything that is played against a Chess.com bot or opponent is in your chess.com game record. Anything played on our board is off Chess.com and on our platform. However, you can still export the pgn to use analysis tools on Chess.com for any game.
I will ask the app team to look into why any games would be missing.
