3.0.0 Release - Lessons

*Still a couple of final bugs to work out - should launch soon but not today

Can we get an updated road map release? Considering lessons were meant to be January and now it’s delayed again with no new release date (ā€œsoonā€ is never a good sign) - bit disappointing.

Come on, have a bit of patience dude - they’re clearly trying their best

I have absolutely no doubt they are but it’s also absolutely fair to ask for an updated roadmap when the next release has gone from Jan to Feb 5 to soon.

4.0 was also meant to be early Feb (which I assume is also pushed back now, along with everything after it).

Also a reminder that lessons are advertised on the product page, but not available.

I’m an OG v1 Kickstarter supporter and really, the reason I bought the original board was for lessons. It’s been a long road, but incredibly excited to see these finally releasing with a lot of planned content to come. Might be the best tool for getting better at chess out there.

This looks amazing, my dream is to someday be able to learn openings this way. Maybe by just uploading a pgn of my choice with commentary to just memorize the moves of an opening.
Also can integrate with chess.com’s lessons too!

Unrelated to the ChessUp board, but if you want to get into memorizing openings, checkout the app/website Chessbook. Very straightforward and clean way to practice openings.
*(I have no affiliation with Chessbook).

Chessbook looks promising. Can you tell us the monthly/annual subscription cost?

I’m not affiliated with them, and I only use the free tier. I can save up to 500 moves or something. It basically saves openings you want to use and then quizzes you on them in a very efficient manner.
When I get much better, maybe I’ll be able to handle memorizing more than 500 moves

Wow I just looked into this and I wanted exactly something like this with active recall and spaced repetition. Thanks for sharing

Great stuff. My new board just arrived, and I see these lessons in the App.

Is it right that I should not use them for now because they are not release-ready?

(I ask because I tried one out (4. Queen and Rook checkmate) - could not resist! - but it was not working with the board integration; and I didn’t want to report a bug when the thing was not intended for go-live yet)

I’ve uploaded a demonstration of the bug via a video here (note, this is not public, except via this forum), on the understanding this may be a bit pre-emptive: https://youtu.be/xi6rpRVkwLc

Love the new board meanwhile!
many thanks, Ricky

(Version: Main 2.6.0, Touch 0.1.1, BB 0.2.7)

I think the lessons you see now are not the new ones yet, those are the old ones which don’t really work.

Yeah the lessons inside the IOS app are a leftover from the past. The new lessons will arrive soon!

Any updates on when lessons will be released?

I’m in desperate need of lessons. How can I become a beta tester?

4.0/5.0/6.0 are still same schedule.

3.0 is waiting on iOS app, and that resource is unrelated to 4.0/5.0/6.0.

The resources are already working on 4/5/6 and not held up by 3.0 iOS

Can you please confirm the schedule?

4.0 was said to be early Feb, which isn’t really on schedule now?

Does that also mean by end of next week we’ll have 3, 4 and 5 rolled out?

Love this!

And if it took a few weeks longer, would that really be such a problem…?
The main thing is that it runs stable.
