Chess.com Unplayable

Hey community!

My board is very buggy when it comes to the chess/com features and I’m looking for some help.

  • My friends don’t receive challenges when I try to send one from the board (they’re not using a board, just chess/com). It worked a few times when they sent me a challenge instead while I was on the chess/com page on the board.
  • If I just click play to match a random person, I can sometimes get a match, but it will tend to bug out. For example, one time no lights showed up so I couldn’t tell what was happening even though the clock had counted down so they had made a move, and it was my turn.
  • After the above, I reset the board. Then, the lights lit up. I got into another match, and the state of the board was stuck showing a knight moving to a square from the match I had auto-aborted from before even though I was in a new match.
  • I’ve also made a move just to end up getting auto-aborted before.

Generally, all the above issues render the board pretty useless when it comes to the chess/com integration, which is the main reason I bought it :confused:

If anyone has any advice or troubleshooting, or maybe I need chess up 2 to swap my board out - I’d really appreciate the help!

You can reset the board and/or sign out off chess.com inside the settings and re-login.

The Chess.com pairing should work really seamlessly so we will need to check into the logs for your account.

What is the chess.com username?

I’m not sure how to reset the board (unless you just mean turning it off and on - which doesn’t fix it). I’ve tried logging out of chess.com and logging back in, but less recently

On the board go in the main menu to settings. On the very bottum you got reset. Do this and try if it helps.

all I see on the board is:

  • chess dot com
  • two player
  • play bots
  • board editor

So these items are not in the main menu on the board?

You need to ‘scroll’ down on the menu.

Thank you! I found this and reset the board through settings. I also logged out of chess dot com and logged back in on the chess up app. Unfortunately, the lights still did not come back on when I turned the board on and are otherwise sporadic with me pushing around on the underside to get the electronics working correctly. It seems like the PCB or some internal components may not be seated correctly.

Also, this I got an email that this post was marked as spam by the community, which is very odd, because I’m not spamming :man_shrugging: I got a message that mods restored it though - thank you mods! However, it still appears greyed out in the post body and says it was flagged. Oh well
