Error move registration

I played a couple of games today and in both of the games the board registered I moved my piece to another square than I placed my piece. Could be a coincidence, but in both cases the board registered the move being on the a file. Actually, in the first game the board registered the move before I placed my piece. I hope it’s not a hardware issue.

The board will register a move as complete when you release the piece.

If you are using a ChessUp 1 - calibration is important. You can find the calibration instructions here:

ChessUp 2 does not require any calibration.

In either case, making sure to hold the piece well until you have finalized the move will ensure proper move registration.

I calibrated the board not long ago and the problem can’t be how I hold the pieces. I have had the board for a long time and this exact issue hasn’t been there before.

We have a bit of code that prevents this a-file issue.

I will check with the team if that was updated in the most recent firmware update (*it should not have been updated).

Assuming it was not changed, one tip with the a-file specific issue is actually to not grab the piece too heavily.

It is also affected by electrically noisy environments. So if you are in a new location, it could be an outlet, a charging brick (if plugged in) - or can even be an electrically noisy lamp in close proximity.

Otherwise, a new calibration can still help.

Is the felt on the pieces still holding up well?
