All the more reason to have a TOPIC on the left side of this screen for UPDATES - so people can see what is new and the general outline for upcoming updates.
The schedule will be maintained at a ~monthly level. In reality, that is the limit of resolution anyways. Testing and bug fixes are unpredictable and cannot be predicted to the day/week level.
Then perhaps a āmonthly levelā schedule on this main page, easy for all to find?
Or we could just be patient and wait for proper announcements on upcoming features and updates ![]()
Or someone could have a category or topic clearly noted to this landing page added which one would see and (know) to check - might cut down on some of the frustration and almost daily questions seen asked about updates. Even a āclick hereā button for items pertaining to the roadmap and latest updates/releases.
I see someone now seemingly asking about upgrades inā¦looks like the internal chess engine. Itās been discussed, I come to the site every day and would not know where to point them.
Do you blame people for constantly asking when every single time frame they give has been missed now?
Scroll up just a few posts to see multiple āthis week or early next weekā posts⦠Didnāt happen.
Not to mention if you to back to the previous road map thread theyāre now months behind.
I like my board but they clearly have some serious issues hitting their own release dates for updates.
Sadly this is very true.. I love the board overall, but the amount of bugs and basic feautures that are just not present is a huge turnoff for people who use their board every day and in various advance ways. The lack in credibility regarding to updates are not helping and is showing either a dysfunctional system or a disregard for the product (which can be very much true considering the promises that have been made regarding chessup 1). Again, I personally love the board and the vibe it brings with it, especially the touch sense feature which is a big reason of why I bought it, but I definitely do not like this attitude in marketing.
Coding takes time and bugs come up that cannot be predicted so timeframes are very difficult to build but this is still very unfortunate.
I agree the roadmap is very old, updating it with current status would be very helpful rather than having to read this thread and get information here and there. I completely understand dates get missed as development/bugs/testing etc can cause delays, updating roadmap with current info would be helpful for us and reduce a lot of the questions
We will get an update for May up soon.
3.3 is about to release - save and resume games.
Yes, @Jeff said this in a post on Lichess
ā Save games is rolling out very soon, then we are full onto lichess.
As it is a major release, the actual launch date is TBD, but we are talking weeks now (not months).
Lichess has a good API and we have already worked through it in our apps - so it should go well. We have already played a couple of test games on the boards (without User Interface, etc - just hardcoded game launches). Looks very promising that we will get this implemented without too much issue. Hopefully it is mostly User Interface work.ā
Are you working in chessup? I did not realizeā¦
No, i just found an old post Jeff had made and decided to quote it here so you would know what was going on with Lichess
So that we can help - which specific features are you looking for?
And for any specific bugs, please let us know, there is a report for here:
Then we wait for @Jeff and the ChessUp Team to give us announcements.
This really shouldnāt be a problem
@TommyDon Iām afraid you do not get the point.
For you and possibly I and some others on this form, that is one thing. But all the others - especially those who are here for the first time, simply do not see anything standing out to them about Current and future updatesā¦so they will continue to ask.
Now, if Jeff or someone else has the time to constantly answer such questions, then fine. But that canāt be an optimal solution in any ones world. But they seem to have made their choice to deal with it that way.
At this point Iām actually 100% convinced you work for ChessUp.
First of all, I do not work for ChessUp (although Iām sure it would be a pleasant experience). I am a surgeon
Secondly, updates and new features take time to develop and release. Thereās not really a need to constantly know the inner workings of what is being worked on and exact dates.
Thirdly, people asking every single day (and yes this does happen) about whenās the update is not at all reasonable as @Jeff gives us pretty frequent feedback regularly
Lastly, obviously I would not be upset if we do get a location to view upcoming releases and updates. I just donāt think itās a pressing matter and should not be a complex problem.
Most curious as to why āthe communityā flagged the posts below above.
It was off topic and just condescending another community member
