Lack of tack-back facility

One drawback of the ChessUp board is its inability to take back more than one move which is a limitation when examining different lines of play. For example, in trying to analyse the Bobby Fischer v Donald Byrne game played in N.Y. in 1956, there were are a number of lines that were open to Byrne after Fischer made his amazing 11th move which can’t be appreciated unless you understand how much vision Bobby possessed in making his move. In complex games like this one it would be very useful if this added feature became available. Because we’re not all chess masters most of us need visual aids to follow high level games. Is there any prospect of such an udate happening anytime soon?

I agree sometimes I would like to use this feature when analyzing games of high rated players. I know the team is working very hard with all the updates and stuff. Keep it up!

I 100% agree with you! It’s something I’ve been very vocal about.

So the solution we are working on for this - is the ability to just hit “resync” and the board will continue with the current settings (assistance, etc) but with the new position you have set.

It is essentially board editor but with a shortcut to “continue from here”.

It is in the works.

Multiple undos we feel is too cumbersome because you have to remember the undo order. With the solution we are working on, you just need to return to any position

Jeff, if you mean the ability to re-set to a point in a game from which you are examining a particular line then that sounds great because, as you say, to step back one move at a time to the original position can be time consuming and confusing, but I’m not sure that is what you meant. Hopefully it would be possible to examine any number of variations that stem from a given point in a game using this method.

Chess Tiger app on iOS handles this very well. It lets you explore multiple variations and then lets you back out to the original game.

Will the re-synching to the current position allow the player to roll back to the main/original position? Of course the user can just set up the position themselves but having to remember the board set up at move 19 wouldn’t really be a great fix.

Would be nice to have a “markpoint” button to press and let the board remember the position with then a “reset” one to reset to the original position. The resync with continue feature still makes sense and would also be welcomed but I guess being able to say “I’d like to explore different lines from that position” would be awesome
