I know this has been discussed before and you’re trying to make decisions to please as many people as possible. But, I am a part of a group (Chess Dojo) who encourages classical games, and for my level, to play at least 30+30 time controls (or longer like 45+30, 45+45, 60+0, 60+15, etc.). And I realize that these are not amongst the most popular time controls on Lichess so they’re not an option on the board with Lichess. But is there a way to still use my phone to setup the game on Lichess but be able to play on the ChessUp board with these longer time controls? I really got the board to be able to play these longer classical games but be able to practice OTB, and really, it seems like e-boards shine more in the longer time controls (where input lag, etc is less of an issue). Anyway, thank you for the continued support of the community.
And if I may add something, as a lone-wolf Lichess League player, accepting or sending challenges with those classical time controls (for me mainly 30+30) is a must.
I have been using the board in conjunction with the ChessConnect app/extension to bridge this gap.
Thanks for anything you can do on that regard.
@ricky7uio , @bpye28 , are you asking for more time controls for random play, or for direct challenges?
Direct challenges (receiving and sending)
I would like it for random play as well. To follow our program, I have to play 30+30 or equivalent (such as 60+0). I know those aren’t quick pairing options for Lichess. So I’ve just used the chess connect app.
For direct/friend-challenges, the time-format selection is extended and does contain 30+30 and 45+45 (among others).

Got it - I’ll add this to the list to plan for Lichess. It is pretty simple to add a new time format, but I’m hesitant to add one with such long pairing times by default. I’ll talk to our UI designer about this.
Hi Richard, ok thanks. But can I send a challenge to someone who is not my friend? I was not able to do it at least.
Thanks.
Ricardo

Hmm, currently you cannot.
…as a lone-wolf Lichess League player…
I’ll have to look into this more and talk to the Lichess devs, but would it work better if the board could show the tournament games available for play?
Hi Richard,
To clarify the “Lone Wolf” league requirement: the league rules specify that players must manually challenge their assigned opponent directly via their Lichess username.
The “friend” requirement is a significant barrier because:
• Direct Matchmaking: Since players are paired with strangers every round, they need to initiate games immediately by username without managing a friends list, mirroring the standard Lichess lobby.
• Bidirectional Challenges: In these leagues, either player might initiate the game, so the board must be able to receive challenges from strangers just as easily as it sends them.
For the board to be truly league-compatible, it needs to allow this open sending and receiving of challenges regardless of friendship status.
I hope this clarifies my point.

Thanks!
