On-board Lichess, custom time challenge

On-board Lichess (firmware 3.3.9 from the beta stream) looks great, but right now we only have presets for classical and rapid. Is the GUI for custom time control settings in the pipeline? How close?

I’m an active member of Lichess4545.com and time controls there are 45+45 or 30+30, would be nice to add my opponent as a friend and start a game from ChessUp2. I’m currently doing this via the ChessConnect browser extension, but doing it straight from the board is the best experience.

Thanks for all the work!

I noticed that 45+45 isn’t very popular overall - do you think it’s mostly used by direct challenges rather than random seeks? Just for random play, I’m considering removing it or replacing it with something with quicker matchmaking if that’s the case, and I could keep it for direct challenges.

It would be very useful in direct challenges, as it’s part of the Lichess4545.com League - the very popular classical chess league supported by Lichess themselves (infrastructure hosted by Lichess).

But I agree it wouldn’t be a thing in random seeks. Please preserve it for direct challenges to “friends”. Thanks!

45+45 will be removed from random play in the next update, but will be kept as a direct challenge option.

We’ll probably swap out 30+30 with 25+0 just for random play, and keep 30+30 for direct.

Thanks for keeping 45+45 and 30+30 in the direct challenge, they’re used on Lichess4545.com (the league with serious players and great potential customers for ChessUp :-))

I don’t quite understand 25+0, though, but if your stats says it’s used in the random pool, then OK.

25+0 is the shortest non-increment classical on the create-a-game sliders - I’d guess it’s probably that.

The monthly game logs don’t seem to show random-seek vs user-challenge, so take all of this with a bit of guesswork.
