New ChessUp2 s dont charge

I recently bought 2 x Chess Up2’s and the cables that came with them to charge then don’t have a USB end

They have usb end at both side but both side of the cable is USB-C. You should have a charging brick with USB-C entry or use any other USB-A to USB-C cable which you will still be able to plug on your “legacy” charging brick with only USB-A plug. Does it answer your question?

No as the original Chess up plugged in to a normal USB port. Why do you sell something for nearly £300 that you can’t change eithout buying something extra

The FAQ on the website might enlighten you:

“We provide a 2 meter USB C - USB C cable in the product box. We do not provide the charging block (“brick”) as these are unique by country. We recommend a 20 watt USB-C charging block.”

It’s exactly the same if you buy a new iPhone.

That’s not true as I have a chess up 1 series and was provided with a USB cable that went from the machine direct to the plug we use to charge all of our phones on. What has happened is that on the 2 series they’ve changed the port size

There is nothing untrue about my post. Yes, it’s changed. USB-C is the new standard. And according to the site they do not supply a brick anymore because it’s different by country. Exactly as if you buy a new iPhone or Android phone (which both also have changed to USB-C).

You might not like the standard changing, but that’s not really Chessups problem.

Also as I said, you can still use a cable you have in your possession to charge the chessup2 if you don’t have a charging block with a usb-c port, that works too

I just checked my ChessUp board and the F&Q both @Hockeydoc and @Nico are totally correct.

Personally, I haven’t charged the board with the given charger (use my IPad charger) which is definitely a USB-C cable.

USB-C is replacing USB cables due to their smaller size and greater efficiency. I understand your frustration but if you don’t have USB-C charging bricks you will eventually. Chessup 1 was released before the standard changed. Chessup 2 is more recent/modern, and thus uses USB-C.

(I also think a law was passed in europe mandating all new smartphones be manufactured with USB-C. You will have to switch eventually, so please don’t blame Chessup for your having to update your cable drawer. Sorry for the inconvenience though!)

Yes we made ChessUp 1 with USB-A–>USB-C and made ChessUp 2 with USB-C → USB-C charging cable.

USB-C on both ends is a more future proof option and has several advantages.

While 2025 is still the earlier end of full USB-C adoption, over the next couple of years you will see it completely take over and almost all new charging adapters will come with USB-C on the wall end.

Phones already made the switch over the last 2~3 years. So we are following the industry trends at the right time.

Sorry that you were unable to charge it right away. If you want to reach out to info@bryghtlabs.com with your country we can recommend a model of the proper wall adapter.
