Not finding an opponent

Hi all,

I like to play Chess games with my ChessUp 2 with other ChessUp board players. So, mostly I try to find a match with ChessUp players, but the iOS app barely finds a match. When I choose a random player the app is searching and sometimes it chooses a player and then nothing. Sometimes, when I get lucky, I have a game, but mostly it’s not like that. What are your experiences?

This happens with me as well but only when U use a phone to try to find a game. It often finds one but then nothing ever happens so I am forced to abandon. It’s like it doesn’t work but I could also be doing something wrong that I don’t know about. Is there anything specific you need to do to start a ChessUp game?

How do you start a game from the board with a ChessUp oponement instead of using chess.com? With the iOS app, I have the same experience as you have. @Jeff, do recognize this behavior?

Yes, there might be an issue with the iOS app, which is what I use.

If you want to play other ChessUp owners on chess.com you have to friend them, agree to play and on the board only play against them. One sends a request via the friends list, the other recives a notification to accept.

So to specifically play board to board - players have to coordinate.

We have a list of ChessUp people who are open to adding friends on Chess.com:
Chess.com User Names - Share if you would like to play ChessUp vs ChessUp

The reason it is best to coordinate - is the player pool is small (vs Chess.com). So it takes coordination between the board players to set up a match.

We should maybe set up a slot each week for a club of sorts. I think now that we have board to board challenges, it is the right time to do that.

I think a weekly club, to host games or even possibly tournaments, is a great idea!

That would be really awesome, and yes since we can now accept challenges on the board, it’s great if we could further make use of it more broadly
