Playing outside in the sun/shade

Hi everyone!

I love my Chessup 2 and with the good weather here I also truly enjoy being outside. Annoying thing is, when I try to play some games outside it’s almost impossible to see which squares are lit up.
Are there any good ways or does anyone have tips to still be able to see the lit up squares in the sun/shade?

Check out this thread.

I have a suggestion. Would it be possible to display the moves on the screen in a large, bold font along with the lights?
I’ve had the same problem outside and thought maybe this might help. At least the screen could be shielded more easily from the sun than the entire board.

Yes the sun is extremely bright and CU2 is designed for indoor use. It can work in outdoor environments with shade/ But direct sun is too much for the LEDs to overcome.

For your question about seeing the moves on the small screen - possibly. We are developing a “carousel” set of views during game play. In some modes there will be a screen that is the board position - so you can view the pending move there. That is something coming out later this year. It can help a bit in the bright sunlight situations.

Sounds cool but honestly, I think we really need to find something else to do outside. Maybe something more physical, like reading a book?
