Question regarding wifi or Bluetooth

I usually play from home and everything works flawlessly. So decided today to bring the CU2 set to a chess meeting. I don’t know if there was wifi available but I thought for sure that I should be able to get up and running by connecting to my phone . Needless to say I couldn’t get anywhere. All the squares were a purple and the set was saying ‘ connect to wifi ‘. So the question is: if possible to play , how then , what’s the procedure. Anyone ? Help appreciated . Roger.

Switch the white pieces and black pieces.

And then you can play the embedded Ai without any connection.

If you want to play chess.com it is best to connect to wifi. Otherwise you can download the chessup app, open the app with the board on, and it will connect. From there you can launch games - but it is more confusing.

You can also use your phone as a wifi hotspot for the board. That works well

And make sure the wifi hotspot on your phone is set on 2.4ghz. On 5 ghz it won’t work .

Thanks Jeff, the kids were setting up the board and I was playing on a different set and didn’t even notice that the pieces were setup backwards. Wow , never would have figured it out if I hadn’t snapped the photo.
Thanks . Im assuming that was the major issue why nothing would work. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours . And many thanks for the game of chess . !!! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I’ll try to improve the prompt when clicking ‘play’ when in this placement.

Yeah , it’s not even the systems fault . Really, if I wasn’t so distracted I would have seen the issue. But thanks for all you do. And happy Thanksgiving holidays

Actually it would be good if you get a “wrong direction” notification if you have all wrong pawns on 2 and 7. Or another check like all the pieces on row 1 & 2 are black.

What would be very cool is if you were to light up purple on:

A5
B4, B5, B6
C3, C5, C7
D5
E5
F3, F5, F7
G4, G5, G6
H5

Creating a two-direction arrow. Or some other animation like alternating flashes of Row 1&2 with Row 7&8.

Have fun with it.
