Got my chessup2 board with me on a week long trip and currently unable to connect this to the Hilton WiFi. Any pointers on how this can be done. Seems like a basic missing capability
If you are using a connection that requires an acceptance page, the best option is to use your phone as a hotspot. Another option is to connect to WiFi using your phone then connecting to the board with your phone. Then use the platform options through the phone to start the game.
Hotel WiFi is part of a category of “captive wifi” where the the user must visit their portal page first - and unfortunately that is not supported by the ChessUp 2.
As @grabbe said - best workaround is to hotspot through smart phone for those situations.
Are there any plans to address this? Tethering to a device’s data plan is possible but not ideal cost wise if abroad
In that scenario, you can connect your phone to the hotel wifi. After doing that, you can start the ChessUp app on your phone, get the board paired with it and launch a game through the phone. That will avoid consuming any of your data plan.

If you do purchase something like this, make sure it has an option for you to setup the board on 2.4GHz
