I am interested into buying the chessup 2 device, but I was wondering whether it would be possible to use it as a analysis tool. I have seen there are ways to export played game for analysis into chess com on another device. I have also seen there is the possiblity to have the evaluation bar directly in the device for a given position.
What I would like to do is a little bit dfferent, I would like to setup a position and make moves on the physical board, and then to have the evaluation and best engine moves given (directly on the device, or through the app or through connection with chess.com analysis mode). Is there a way to do that ? For exemple it could be by connecting the device to chess com analysis mode, so that move on the physical board translate into position in the analysis board ?
What would really be cool is to have the chesscom analysis (game review) directly onboard (at least for chesscom played games). Is this possible with their API? If yes, do you plan to implement it?
This works - you can set up any position with our board editor, set to 2 player, full assistance level 6, then play through both sides. When you touch pieces you will see the eval for every move with color coding. Follow the green moves for the computer best line.
thanks a lot for your answer that’s very clear, its already a good feature, maybe ideally I would have found really nice and great if :
there were another mode than “2 player game” for analysis, my understanding is that I have to “go through a game from a position” and in case I want to analysis “another position” I have to get back to board editor and start again. Whereas my use case would be more to be able to just be able to reorder the piece and have the eval recalculated from the new position. For exemple if I want to look at different variation with the engine it might not be conveniant to get back to the board editor each time. It would be great to have a “free analysis” kinda mode, where you can do that : just reoder your piece anyway you want (even if its not legal move) and once done, chessup update the eval on the screen.
I understand the color coding and the way it can be used to get the best line. Still, it would be great if it were possible to have the exact number eval of the different engine moves (either through the chessup screen or the app ?) as the color coding can be a little bit limited in the information it gives.
Don’t know if its stuff that could potentially be added in a futur release
Jeff. Exactly what I do. Sometimes I watch YouTube creators and when I see a position where I think something else should have been played, I screen shot it then go to CU2 and set up the position and play it out from there to see my moves instead.
