Shipping Updates

Congrats!
How in the world does someone in Australia get theirs before I, as a backer, in the US gets mine?

Love the damage control… Title changed… Then title changed again.
“I edited the title to “backers are delivered first”. I am not sure why there is any other impression out there.”
The impression has been laid out. I for one won’t fund another Kickstarter from them. Incomplete product along with a timeline of promises that stretch later and later. Oh yeah… Can’t wait to get mine in the US.

Love the entitlement and childishness.

You’re not mad that you didn’t get yours yet. You’re mad that someone else did.
It is almost exactly getting delivered at the promised date. What did you want them to do? Just hold a bunch of units in the warehouse because you can’t handle it?

They shipped it out to different countries and each country is OBVIOUSLY handled separately.

Also, you paid $200 for a board on kickstarter instead of the $300 it costs. That’s clearly not enough. Would it be sufficient for you if Jeff takes a flight and hand delivers it to your home since you are the most important person on the planet?

Grow up.

(Sorry Jeff. I know you are a very professional person and will respond with grace, but I despise this kind of entitlement when you are doing a fantastic job)

The original title of this thread was “backers are delivered last” (titled by original poster). I changed it to backers are delivered first - but explained at the same time all pre-orders go out at the same time as well as live orders once in stock. So poor title and I fixed it when I realized the issue.

In every update on Kickstarter we have continually explained that in order to handles thousands of orders, they are shipped in the manner convenient for the warehouses. i.e. all orders of one type go together.

Australia has backers too - they get orders so soon because it is quicker logistically than the USA. Europe is the latest of the bunch.

We also focused on making Christmas for the maximum number of people possible. The way this all went:

  1. USA container went first. USA is the most orders - and at the time there were threats of East Coast strikes which would send surplus into West Coast ports and backed up West cost ports. We have been through USA back ups before. In 2022 it took us ~3 months to receive a container.

  2. Europe Container went second. It is the longest trip with the best port.

  3. Final units from the batch went to our China warehouse and shipped out immediately. That is how Australia ends up getting orders early. Also to note - the quoted time on the Australia line was up to 3 weeks. So it is surprising to us when stuff gets there in a week.

There is no continual changing - this has been the logistics plan to maximize deliveries before Christmas. It was never about going in a specific order, it was about going as fast as possible. It was also communicated in several Kickstarter updates.

I am fine taking the heat - people are anxious to get the unit and if for whatever reason it sends this week rather than last, it feels unfair. But I know we have set this up for max success for December deliveries. I am watching it play out and all is going well - USA backlog will all arrive in time for Christmas. Europe unfortunately is going to straddle Christmas for some - but we are doing everything we can to improve the odds (i.e. hired a driver to wait on the container rather than next day pick up). We also have a partner there who is willing to pack on Saturday and Sunday.

The product is a brand new launch and software updates will be regular (to answer the criticism of an incomplete product). The launch of thousands of units in the wild will inevitably turn up situations.

Again - I put my face all over this brand - and I don’t mind the discussion and can understand the frustrations. I can take the criticism and don’t mind answering it. This part of a campaign brings out the most headaches (delivery) and this time we are stacked on top of December (maximum volume for commerce).

The are most likely a backer too and Australia units do not go sea freight. They paid $49 delivery at the time of pledge because it has to be flown.

Also to explain the Kickstarter pledge levels:

USA paid $199 + $19 shipping (the approximate cost of shipping and handling for UPS ground for us)

Europe paid $199 + $49 “shipping” - but actually $40 of the $49 is VAT (value added tax). At the end of this, we pay hundreds of thousands to the various European governments. These go sea freight and then are delivered for ~$20 each. We lose money on that shipping fee.

Rest of World paid $199 + $49 shipping - because these countries are ~$49 for us to ship into.

Apologies if I missed by $10 or such - going off memory

^That post is strange as I can’t even tell who posted it and the system deleted it automatically. So whoever it was, just let us know what the issue is (beyond delivery in December) and we can address it

In August we updated the project to December delivery and we made December. Kickstarter comes with schedule risks because production and logistics are not complete at time of order.

I only remembered seeing that US Backers would be getting theirs before European…didn’t recall hearing anything about Australia. But good for them! :slightly_smiling_face:

You’re doing great, @Jeff – we appreciate you! Never seen such transparency from a company before, you guys are amazing.

The folks who are unhappy about the shipping are about to forgive you for their over-reactions when they start using the board, it is soooo great.

Hey Jeff. Will you be letting us know when all the Kickstarter shipments were sent out so we can notify you if we didn’t get a tracking number?

If you do not have tracking by end of week, please let us know.

Even we do not exactly know when the warehouse will finish with the backlog. I expect it to be this week. And if not, then I will update.

Interesting - mine has been saying on the UPS site - eta Thursday. Today, it says Tuesday.
I guess that’s why their tracking says at the top “estimated delivery”.
I’ve a dental appointment tomorrow morning… I … ‘estimate’ this might make the dental pain a little easier to endure tomorrow. :slightly_smiling_face:

I received a tracking number for my order and it shows it is shipping through FedEx and the location it is shipping from is the Netherlands? Does that sound right? I live in Texas.

Might have been a mix up- I will check it out

can you message me that tracking info?

I think they emailed you someone elses tracking - but I have no idea how that would happen

*and no worries about your order, it is not packed yet and is set for Texas.

Got it and deleted - thanks

Thank you sir!

Yeah that is someone else’s shipment, but your order number (probably manually entered wrong) was used to pull the email info to send to tracking to.

That is a first for us. I would just ignore it. We will track down the rightful recipient and email them.
