@timothyha - the latest beta firmware (4.5.1) includes these updates for testing:
Hurray, @Richard - will do, I’ve got two Lichess logins and two Chesscom ones to try!
This so cool !! The feature is really neat and well done, happy to encourage my daughter to play chess and also my wife. Will be very handy to switch from one profile to another. Need now to convince them to see how well it goes. Very well done chessup team !!
Now I question myself about another feature that was requested when playing 2 players OTB and putting opponent’s name on each game, how hard would it be to put the possibility to chose the opponent from board’s profile? So that you’ll know directly against whom you played without setting the name afterward, wouldn’t that be great?
I’ve just set a chess.com account for my daughter and connect it to the board. Looks like to work pretty good. Only issue, I wasn’t able to connect her chessup account, which for my user is connected without a glitch. But when I try to connect on her with her application open, I receive an error message in the app saying that an error occurred. Apart from that, it’s awesome
Was her account on iOS or Android? Could you please try again and take a screenshot of the failure message?
Hi,
I’ve actually managed to get it working, but it’s a bit misleading, when you’re on the profile, you can connect lichess and chesscom but for chessup it doesn’t work, it works however it you quit the profile and go in the setting, there you find a chessup option that when you click it, is working. All that on Android
There is now another issue I just faced, we’re 6 in my family and it looks like you can have up to 5 profiles, otherwise very well thought and done
After a few more extensive tests I’ve noticed that the switch is not so smooth, actually while it’s possible to get connected on different chesscom accounts with different profiles, when you switch from one to another I need to redo the chesscom login, not really sure why and if it’s expected. Should I open a bug report for that?
That’s not expected, we’ll look into that. Could you please PM me your board’s serial number so I can pull the logs for that board? It’s under Settings→About→SerialNumber
I’ve PMd you the serial number
How did you tell? Was it through the board’s display of Settings→SignOutOfChessDotCom username, or a random game, friend game, or bot game?
No what I meant is that it seems to be possible to connect one chesscom account to one profile and then switching profile should switch the chesscom account (at least it’s how I understand it). But in reality when I switched profile and tried going on the other chesscom account the board is asking to use the app to connect chesscom account again, which in my opinion limits a bit the feature if each time you need to login again but it’s maybe expected
Now it’s even worse, even without changing profiles every time or so (not every time but very often) it asks me to relog on chess com, it’s being a bit annoying
Same here. We have 2 users. We are constantly asked to log in on chess.com
We are looking into this now - it is supposed to be seamless and not require re-login each time. So it will get fixed and re-released.
Hi! Just got the board and am excited because all four members of my family want to use it. But we are all different skill levels and want our own profiles. We have different chess.com profiles but we’d also like different profiles for the bots internally. Is that possible?
Yes - each profile carries most settings and game history with it.
A few thing like language and WiFi are system-wide, but all game settings and online accounts live within the profiles.
EDIT: one caveat - ChessDotCom accounts must not be signed in to multiple profiles.
@Nicko , @Sunnfjord1 , there’s a new beta firmware today that should fix the ChessDotCom accounts not staying signed in.
