Two boards active, how to select the right one in android app

Hey there! Love the product. So I bought two. One for myself and one for the kids. Unfotunately, there does not seem to be a way to select the board that you want to connect to from the app. Am I missing some setting in the app, or can I make this a feature request

Kind regards

Hi it will be possible to switch chess.com accounts on the board. For now I would power on one, connect to chess.com and power off. Then same for the other board but before connecting the secound board open the app and logout in chess.com and relogin with other account. Maybe that works.

Thanks for the reply. That is what I ended up doing. However, it is not so much chess.com, but the ChessUp app itself. Would be nice to get offered a choice between the available boards to connect to. And for that, also a way to properly identify each board in the app.

So really good question - and we have debated for years about a “name your board” feature but it never made it in.

In the office we have 6~7 boards in close proximity and on. And this issue comes up.

You can do this -

  1. In the ChessUp app - click on your profile
  2. click on board updates (Do not update it)
  3. …but you can read the serial number it connected to

On the board you can
Settings->about and see the serial number.

You don’t need to remember any more than the last few digits.

Now that just tells which it connected to - and does not have the ability to choose.

To force it to choose one, hold the phone close to the board at app launch. It helps, but is not a guarantee.

Thanks for the explanation! I would vote for the feature of named boards and a selection dropdown in the app.

Guess it would help in your office with six active boards as well

On a side note: do you currently have (or plan for) an SDK so community members can contribute to app or board features?

There will not be an SDK but we have a bluetooth API where people can send and receive Chess moves in and out.

For example, Chess Connect is a 3rd party program that uses the bluetooth API
