You guys see this? Feedback during live rated game from reddit

Apparently someone was able to access move feedback or suggestions or something while playing a rated chesscom game. Chesscom clocked him for cheating, but the guy is playing dumb because “the board let me do it”. Is this a bug? Seems like something of an issue if the board can accidentally let someone cheat.

I was going to post the same.. I just saw it on Reddit too. I’m curious on what was the issue here.

Looking into this now, thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Honestly seems like original poster is not being forthright.

There is no assistance of any form (pre or post move) available when playing on chess.com.

This could be anything from a user cheating (by using a secondary device) or a competitor trying to smear our product. For instance, chessnut products do have a history of getting lichess users banned. ChessUp follows all rules and cannot & has not ever caused a ban. It could be a competitor trying to falsely level out that difference.

However, I think most likely is the user was cheating - much in the way of play a mirrored game on a separate device with hints on - and trying to use the board as a scape goat.

We will investigate it regardless.
