Bug, or just confusing UI with chess.com?

When I select chess.com in the iOS app, it seems to open the website in a web view container inside the app. After I do this, I am not able to go back to the main menu of the ChessUp app. I am stuck in the chess.com web browser interface and have to force quit the app to get back to the menu where I can select lichess or lessons or whatever.

Is this a bug, or am I just overlooking a button to go back?

It does open a browser view, but you should have an “X” in the upper right to close out.

Are you perhaps on a tablet or which iOS device is it?

I have the same bug in my iPhone. iOS 26
There’s no X, but three dots. But nothing happens if I click that.

Yes, same for me. A button with 3 dots that doesn’t do anything when I tap it. There is no X.

iPhone on iOS 26.2 (23C55)

On Android the X is there.

I have a IOS device that I can use. Gone look at that.

The X is there on my iPad (iOS 18.6.2).

On the iPhone with IOS version 26.1 I got the same problem as the others. No X to close the chess.com interface and return to the ChessUp app. Have to close the app and restart every time.

I wonder if it’s an iOS 26 issue. It’s also there on my iPhone which is still running iOS 18

.

@JustinF @oridota - looks like new iOS update may have hidden some UI elements. Specifically ability to close out after chess.com credentials are done.

I have hear this on this thread and another support email as well.
