updated to 3.0.2 today. app crashes exactly 3.5 seconds after i open up a game in “history” tab. the app also crashes a few moves after i play a bot in a certain position from “choose an opening” I’ve only tried the 6 move Grünfeld defense however. i have an iphone 16 pro max and i just uninstalled and redownloaded app today.
Did that fix ?
i’m not sure if you did anything but as of this moment my board and app are supposedly up to date, i just tried again with the london opening and a different game in the history tab, both causing the app to crash.
My iOS is crashing at the start of every chess.com game. Both the new version and the prior. Works on lichess. Frustrating.
Are you using the app to play chess.com games? ChessUp 2 is designed to play without the app. If you play with board only there should not be problems.
Fix rolling out ASAP for the iOS crash.
iOS fix seems to have worked. Whew.
I’m on chessup 1.
Ok @DavidS, i responded this answer because this is a ChessUp 2 topic .
Happy it works for you now!
Still crashing for me. I just received my board and signed up for an account. While creating my profile, on the screen that asked me to select a profile picture, I tabbed out of the iOS app to find a photo in my messaging app, upon returning to the ChessUp app I have been stuck in a crash loop. I did uninstall and reinstall the app, and also reboot my device.
Here’s a video of the behavior (app version 3.0.3, iOS version 16.x):
We will take a look and get that fixed so you can get started with the ChessUp 2.
Might also try to clear all cache/storage/memory of that app. General->iPhone Storage->ChessUp app.
But if it is an issue where we somehow have a bad link to the profile pic, we will need to fix on the backend.
I didn’t see cache but I did try the offload, then delete method for the uninstall. Are there any other steps I would have missed in profile creation after the profile pic upload?
The delete method was the one I was suggesting, so if that was tried I will need the programming team to check it out.
I will email you from our support email to open that dialogue - they may need the account name, etc.
Sorry for the hiccup/delay after the wait for the board.
Thank you for the quick replies! I played a game OTB without the app with my girlfriend and we both loved it, the experience was completely smooth.
My app used to crash and is now working fine, thank you for the quick fixes from the chess up team!
Other note: Battery life on ChessUp 2 is amazing, Kudos to the design
@Skerfy_McMurphy - Please try again and if still an issue please let us know. We reset your account.
Thank you! I was able to get through profile creation completely! Unfortunately, upon landing on the app’s home page, I am still in a crash loop. To help rule out device issues, I also installed the app on my iPad, but I experience the same crash loop.
Hi @Skerfy_McMurphy,
Thank you for your patience, and we apologize for the inconvenience. The issue you’re experiencing appears to be related to a separate underlying problem when launching the ChessUp app. Our team is actively investigating, and we will have a new update available shortly for you to download and try again.
We appreciate you providing the iOS version your device is running (iOS 16.*).
To assist us further and help with reproducing the crash loop, could you please let us know the specific model of your iOS device, including the model number?
Thank you again for your support and assistance!
Thank you for working on this on a weekend! I am blown away by the customer service here, and definitely glad I chose the ChessUp 2 as my first smart board. My iOS devices are:
- iPad Pro (11-inch) (3rd generation) on iOS 16.7.2, Model # MHQU3LL/A
- iPhone SE (2020) on iOS 16.7.2, Model # MXCY2LL/A
In case it helps in diagnosing the problem, if I do NOT log in and choose ‘Just Play!’, I am able to click around and use the app (I even imported a game off of the board), but as soon as I log in to my ChessUp account the app crashes.
By any chance do you have any unique settings on your apple account or iPhone (anything unusual with privacy, location, etc?). We don’t use any sensitive access, other than the standard location has to be on with bluetooth for radio compliance. So I don’t expect this to be the issue, but just checking. As I am not sure we are having this issue on any other account.
