When playing against on board AI with assistance on i think it was intermediate, after some moves all of my highlighted moves are white. Boards colors remain correct (purple for piece blue for move) is this a bug or a feature? I have trouble keeping up with the changes without manual or feature explaination.
Follow-up. It appears this occurred becuase i did not have the board connected to wifi at the time. I assume after a few moves the on-board AI cannot compute more complex setups. Makes sense i guess. I will leave up thread incase anyone else has the issue. It used to work with on board ai (and often give bad advice) not sure if that was done away with in the improvements.
Side note: I can say it would be cool in the future to be able to control the light colors with app or other settings. Through this glitch i found i quite like the simple and sleek look of just white lights.
White lights indicate the Ai is still processing the assistance.
These used to be blue, but that could be mistaken as blue hints. So white means it is waiting on the Ai to finish.
If you are disconnected from WiFi - it will wait forever in white for the assistance.

This is great, I was wondering if it was a bug or feature, and it’s a great feature. No lights while touching a piece while the AI is thinking would be weird feedback, and blue lights, like you say, would be confusing.
It happens so quickly, it did seem like a bug when I first noticed them, but it totally makes sense after reading your reply. If you update the manual (I couldn’t find an online manual to double check), that tidbit should be included if possible.
This answers my question on why the AI assistant did not seem to be working and we were getting white lights i thought it was a bug. I suggest the you add the white light to the color coding detail when selecting assist levels.
Question when you say wifi connection needed, does that mean if i am playing in a location with no wifi connection that assist will never finish or that it will take much longer to finish?
The Ai assist will never change from white without WiFi. Assistance requires the connection.
