Game aborts on board, but continue online

When playing on my Chessup2 on Chess.com I often get the message that the game is abandoned. And when searching for a game, I get the attached message. A

Apparently, the game didn’t abort as I can continue in the Chess.com app. But I don’t want to play on my phone or a screen… This is really costing my rating as it has happened several times by now.

And now the wifi connection timed out. After that the board claimed we were waiting for my opponent, but my opponent was actually waiting for me…

I hope this gets fixed, because it’s unplayable like this :frowning:

Can you drop your chess.com user name and the date&time of the games. So they can look into them?

Sorry for the issue. This can happen if a game seek is cancelled from the board but chess.com launches the game. We are working with chess.com to make sure cancelled seeks are confirmed.

We would like to confirm that is the case here - can you please share the chess.com username (or email it to us info@bryghtlabs.com).

We will work with you to resolve any issues.

My username is sevaia. It happened with three of the last four games (only the second last one went correctly). One of those was abandoned, the other two continued on mobile phone, but I hate playing that way and always underperform…

By the way, I did not cancel the seeks… And the last one was a wifi issue.

Ok thanks for the additional information - programming team will take a look at these games.

It happened again (first game since last post). A messafe appears: game will auto-abort in .. seconds. The timer just goes on, even though we play on. And when the timer runs out I get the message attached.

I lost 14 rating points with this one. For now, I will try Lichess, see if that works better now…

Is there any chance the board and you (the player) disagree on a move being complete. Like are there any lights under a piece?

Sometimes a white king can behave intermittently and the piece needs to be replaced. But the board will indicate that the move is not recognized.

No, there’s no problem there.

Edit: As in, during the timer we can both play several moves, that also register on Chess.com. So the game really continues, only the abort timer doesn’t quit.

@Richard @oridota will dig in further. Thanks for reporting - we will see why this is happening for you and get back to you with the fix.
