The rapid games never showed but lost by abandonment

I was waiting for a rapid game to load (via chess.com), it didn’t, so I tried again, later I noticed that I had lost 3 games by abandonment (due to never seeing the games on the chessup board).

The board is fully updated.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix?

Please share a link to the games and we will review the game logs.

If a move was never made it would abort and not be a loss. An abandon game loss would need to be after at least 1 move. Either way we will check out the logs. (*UPDATE- I see the game with no move for black and abandoned - reviewing it now)

Are these games launched directly from the ChessUp 2?

I think I found one of the games.

I sent it to the programmers to review.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for coming back to this so swiftly.

I believe when abandonment happens several times it reduces rating points as it counts as a loss. I don’t abandon games usually. On your question, I can confirm these games were started via the ChessUp 2 board, identical to what I’ve been doing the past week or so using the same account and board.

These are the games in question, all from today, unfortunately it triggered - intensified my downwards spiral:

(Have one more link though hit the 2-link limit for new users - happy to share if you’re interested)

While you look into this, any recommendations to prevent this from happening? I tried to re-login on chess-com via the ChessUp app and that seems to temporarily solve the issue. Though today, the issue has occurred at least three times - adding up to a 23 point loss.

Looking forward to hearing more on this, as I’d love to continue enjoying my games on the board.

This is a bug on our end - we will fix ASAP - very sorry. I will also have customer service see about the game results and hopefully fix that.

We believe it was related to hitting cancel search. We will fix it so you can count on cancel.

But just to confirm, were any of these soon after hitting cancel?

I remember one of them definitely was after hitting cancel, as the search took too long and I thought there was an issue with the connection so I hit cancel to retry.

Though I remember another instance were I was waiting for the search and then got a notification the game was aborted without me interfering in any way.

Also one time it said that it couldn’t start a new game while another game was in progress, whereas I couldn’t see any games. Hope this helps.

Thanks - that helps. We suspect this was related to our cancel search bug, but we are checking the logs to confirm there are not any other issues hiding.

I appreciate all the info and I hope the issue will be closed moving forward and games are all smooth.
