I recently linked my Lichess account in the ChessUp app, but when I try to select Lichess on the chessboard, it says that the integration is “coming soon.”
I’m a bit confused – why is it already possible to link my Lichess account if I can’t actually use it for playing yet?
Has anyone else experienced this or knows more about it?
Thank you, but how is that supposed to work? On Chess.com, I also connect the board to the app and then play using the buttons on the chessboard. I’m wondering why it would work differently on Lichess. Also, I’m a bit confused about the difference between the “Board Only” mode and the one that isn’t “Board Only” – in what way would I still need my phone in that case?
What they are saying is that you can play on chess.com when your phone is off or without the app on the phone. Because the board is integrated with the site.
Wirh lichess, the board is linked to the app/phone so you require the Bluetooth connection of your phone to play. It looks exactly the same except your phone is nearby.
Save games is rolling out very soon, then we are full onto lichess.
As it is a major release, the actual launch date is TBD, but we are talking weeks now (not months).
Lichess has a good API and we have already worked through it in our apps - so it should go well. We have already played a couple of test games on the boards (without User Interface, etc - just hardcoded game launches). Looks very promising that we will get this implemented without too much issue. Hopefully it is mostly User Interface work.
In the middle of coding right now - not sure on exact date for beta release yet.
We are in the count the weeks on one hand stage at this point, best guess 2~3 weeks for a basic beta release (i.e. basic online play). Unknown on full public release.
It will be hard for May. It’s not into beta yet.
I prefer that the programming of lichess.org is done good instead of fast and very buggy release. So hang on there, you will be happy some day because it’s the next update.
