So just tried to connect on chesscom for a game, nothing connected and then I canceled the search to try again. When I tried again I got a message about finishing the online game in progress. I went onto my iPad and opened chesscom to find a game in progress just started with opponent making the first move. But the game didn’t show on my board, have never seen this happen before?
This can happen when we send the request to cancel right at the moment chess.com finally pairs the game.
We added that message to let you know the previous game seek was not able to cancel.
We are still working out some smoother resolutions for this scenario with chess.com.
It is a weird corner case thing that occurs infrequently, but it does happen.

Yes it will just abort the game - but you cannot start another until that concludes.
