Hello, I just recently got a Chessup 2 board a few days ago and overall I have been highly enjoying it. A few things that I have noticed I have issues with are: I have about a 20% rate of getting chess.com bots to load and/or play properly on the board. Most of the time it either never loads the bot and just stays on the loading screen. Sometimes it will load the bot but on their second or third move nothing happens, they never take their move. Half of the time it stops on their move it will let me resign the match, the other half of the time I have to power off the board. My second issue is with castling. If you move the king and the rook at the same time and place them down it often causes the board to malfunction and doesn’t register the move properly. It usually allows the king to move the two spaces but wants the rook in the original position still. After placing the pieced in the spaces it requests nothing further will happen. The opponent will never take a move and you cannot move, it’s just stuck with the king moved two spaces and the rook in its original spot. I can basically force this to freeze every single time unless I specifically lift the king first and move it then the rook. All of the firmware is fully up to date. Even after this 3.3.3 patch I still have the issues with the bots on chess.com. Janjay or something like that is the most notorious to freeze. I have only gotten one match to work against that bot and have tried over 15 times. Other than those two flaws I have been having a great time with this board.
Hi and welcome.
The Chess.com bot issue is known and fix is in the works. Thanks for reporting.
For the castling issue - you need to move the pieces one at a time. That is how the board recognizes you would like to castle. Otherwise it is not clear which piece you intend to move.
Thank you for the response.
If you still experience castling issues - email us info@bryghtlabs.com and we can replace the white king. Some faulty white kings made it to the wild.
Perfect, thank you so much. Now that you say that I think every time the board froze during castling was with the white pieces. I will be playing many more games over the next few days I will do some tests with both colors and keep a general eye out.
That is almost certainly a bad white king - definitely reach out to info@bryghtlabs.com and we can set up a new one for you.
