Chess.com online game with no clock

@JustinF

I did also notice that it still shows my usernames for Lichess and ChessUp but not Chess.com even though I am logged into chess.com currently. Not sure if that might he part of the problem. @YanikD is this the same for you?

@PBK_Studio
How things look in the app shouldn’t affect what happens on the board. Once login happens on the board the app isn’t needed. We are looking at the settings to see if that causes any issues. I have tried setting our the same, but that didn’t seem to prevent us from starting a game. So we have more investigating to do.

@JustinF

Sounds good, I’ll keep messing around on my end. I’m going to try and do a reset in the board settings, see if that helps. If that doesn’t I’ll try and uninstall and reinstall the phone app. Not sure if it matters or not, but I did join the Beta on the phone app, I can also try and leave that. I’ll try one thing at a time to try and narrow down anything that helps.

Cheers

@JustinF

After doing a hard reset on the board and re downloading the updates, I was able to finally get a game only using the chess.com menu on the board. Hopefully that fixed the problem. (The board reset was the only thing I tried, I didn’t do anything else that I had listed in my last post)

Actually I don’t know what happened, but now it seems everything is working fine.

I disabled premoves and re-enabled it. That’s all I did. I cant seem to be able to not start a game anymore.

So idk.

Sorry Justin, I feel like a fool now. But that’s a good a time as any to congratulate you and your team for the dedication you show in these forums. Cheers

Glad to hear things have started working. This is something we are still going to investigate because it’s not clear why you both weren’t able to start games. Please let us know if it happens again.

Not sure if it’s related or of any help, but I have to re-authorize chess.com every day before playing. It takes around 3-10 attempts and then everything is good for the day, until the next one.

Support told me that the firmware 0.50 takes care of the login problem. I had every day a relogin on chess.com for the board with firmware 0.49.

Not sure it it was because of the update to 0.5.0, but I wasn’t able to get a game only using the board. When I clicked on chess.com, I had to re-authorize my account with my phone app, then I was able to get a game through the board menu. I will try again tomorrow and see if the same thing happens or if I can do it with out touching my phone. I will setup a camera before I turn on the board to get a video of what happens.

Cheers

I was able to get a game on chess.com only using the board. This was the first time not having to do anything on my phone. This is super cool. I’m really bad at short time controls, makes it even harder when you have to also move the opponents pieces. I’m getting excited to try 15 min games now.

Peel that screen film off :slight_smile:

And nice win!

Actually, that brings me to a good question :

I am assuming, from the feel of it, that there is a protective glass over the chessup2 screen?

Still, I almost left the film on there myself. It would be a good idea to sell custom fit screen protector as an accessory :wink: I would buy one to keep the screen (and glass) looking great

Agreed.

Yes there is a glass cover lens (*the industry calls it a lens even though it is flat).

You would have to intend to harm it to do any damage.

You can easily clean it. Something like an eyeglass cloth works great.

No plans for a screen protector from us - but interesting - we didn’t think of that at all.

@Jeff This videos for you :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I just tried to get a rapid 15/10 game. I had to re log back into chess.com through the app, and then when I selected the game, it was just stuck on the loading screen. I turned off the board twice and still couldn’t get a game. Anyone else having this issue?

Everything working fine on this end. Will ask tech team to reply here.

Thanks @Jeff , I’ll try again when I get home tonight.

Tried it again today, still no go. After power cycling multiple times, I did a board reset through the settings. After re connecting to the WiFi and re logging back into chess.com it still just sits there waiting for the game to start. I did submit a bug report.
