Flashing Lights While Charging

Hi! I ordered two ChessUp2 boards and am testing them out. One of the boards has random squares lighting up purple, flickering, while charging. It started as only the Rblack rook and bishop and is now randomly jumping all over the board. Seems to be only squares that have pieces on them. Does anybody have any insight or experience with this issue?

Hi - it could be a noisy charger if you are using while plugged in. Best is to try a different outlet or a different charging brick.

Let us know if that fixes the issue.

If not a charging issue, we will need to troubleshoot/replace.

I have been experiencing the same problem since I first received it. Initially, it was minor, but it has become increasingly noticeable with continued use. In my case, this occurs even when using on battery, regardless of the battery level, and connecting to a power adapter does not resolve the issue. It primarily affects most of the back-rank pieces for both colors. The problem persists regardless of my actions, including resetting the board, idling pieces, using the board editor, and even when playing on Chess.com. This annoys me little everytime I play, often time my pieces are immediately registered before I even release the piece after a move is made. Should I be concerned?

Are you underneath a noisy fluorescent lamp/light by chance?

If it shows that behavior in all locations, then we would want to look at the unit. If it is just in once location of the home, then it there is a noise source there. It is rare, but a faulty light can generate a lot of noise.

Any way you could share a video?

There could be a chance of such external interference affecting the board. I have never thought about it, and so I did not have the chance to test it out in different area or room in the house. From my previous tests, I usually play during my daytime with all the lights are off. But I should try out this solution first to see if it solves the problem.

I can verify, I had the same issue and when I changed charging blocks, it hasn’t happened.
With my previous charging block, the squares would glitch almost immediately after I power on while it’s charging.
That block was some cheap one I got from Amazon. After swapping it with my Apple charging block (figured they would have to have a cleaner block), the issue hasn’t happened yet.
So don’t skimp on a charging block, get a name brand one, I think any off brand will be noisy. My daughter even said she can hear these cheap ones when they are plugged in. High pitch squeal. Don’t use cheap charging blocks
