Rook sensitivity issue

Having a great time with my ChessUp 2 board, but there is one small glitch I keep encountering with the rooks—both colors, and no other pieces. Sometimes in the middle of a game or afterward, the squares underneath the rooks will start lighting up if my hand is only near them, not actually touching them. I have noticed that one sure-fire way of making this happen is if my arm touches the rook while I’m reaching across the board to move another piece, however, I’ve had this glitch come up without having done that as well. I’ve tried lifting the rooks up and putting them back down again to fix this, but that doesn’t seem to help. The only thing that does make it stop is to turn the board off and then back on again. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Yes, I’ve had this as well. It only happened once, so I don’t remember the exact details, but the circumstances seem very similar. I was moving another piece iirc, touched the rook accidentally or moved my hand close to it, and the squares under the rook lit up and stayed lit even after I moved my hand away. For me, touching the rook again and moving the hand away again helped to put out the lights, so I could continue the game normally afterwards.

Interesting—it’s almost as if the sensitivity adjusts itself incorrectly mid-game. I’m not sure how the calibration works on ChessUp 2; maybe this is some sort of software issue.

In certain environments the pieces can be that sensitive that they detect proximity of touch. It is not technically a bug and typically does not interfere with play. An arm touching the piece will also recognize as touch

What do you mean with certain environments?

I noticed this was happening while it was plugged in.

Noise from the charging block or outlet will touch the pieces. Solution is just to use a different charging brick, outlet, or not play while charging (the battery lasts several hours).

The only other source is if someone has a very noisy lamp right by/above the board. Cheap lamps or bad bulbs (faulty fluorescent bulbs especially) spew out radio interference.

The charging noise is somewhat common with cheap chargers. The lamp noise is rare - as you need to be close to the light.
