When I visit a Starbucks or any other place that has free and no password WiFi networks, they don’t show up on the Chessup 2. I double checked to see if those networks were available on my phone and they were. One of the coffee shop’s WiFi network was simply the name of the cafe followed by “WiFi” (Urth Wifi) but when viewed on the Chessup 2, there were two networks showing, both with the same name but followed by some numbers (example: Urth WiFi 1234).
I think that only ‘secured’ networks are available but Jeff wil answer that.
I use my phones hotspot if I go out.
If the WiFi leads to a web browser to “accept”, then it is captive WiFi and not supported. (There is now way for the ChessUp 2 to go to that browser page).
Most likely those are captive WiFi networks. Very common with hotels, airplanes, and perhaps some chains of restaurants.
Phone hotspot can serve as the WiFi if travelling.
What if it is a non-password WiFi network? There are two at work like this.
As long as you can connect with a blank pass it’s fine.
If you need to go to a webbrowser to accept etc then it’s not possible.
Interesting, I see one network (one that requires a password) but not the other two. They definitely don’t require a password on laptops, iPhones, iPads, etc.
