What happens with this pawn?

PS: I don’t know why the video shows the square lighting blue, it is purple.

If you pick it up as normal does it still work?

Yes, it works fine, it’s just the a2 square that seems overly sensitive, with any pawn. I’ve also seen it in-game randomly showing the a3-a4 possible moves without any touch. Board unplugged.

Yeah, that’s really weird

Hopefully you get a replacement

Maybe it’s just a firmware issue. I know by other comments that they have some sensitivity parameters or something alike for the squares. I don’t know how piece detection work, I thought it was something with touch and piece presence but this seems magic haha. It’s not so annoying, I mean the board works fine, I just found this interesting.

Does it happen to anybody else?

If you want to fix it you could try calibration into checkers mode and then switch back to normal mode. This could maybe help calm the sensor down and reset it to normal. I don’t know for sure, just an idea🤷.

This happens when the auto calibration is a little aggressive. It will usually resolve if you lift the piece and hold it off the board for 4~5 seconds.
