Takes much longer to start game on Chess.com

Me too, it’s like a 5+ minute wait sometimes

Same here…

I am sure, this is a special chess.com problem and has nothing to do with ChessUp. If I am playing a game with my pc there are the same problems at the mom

Yes the ChessUp side of this is resolved - so if any issues are happening - it would be a chess.com platform wide thing - OR, you may need to relogin:

I’ve tried to sign out of chess.com on the board and sign back in and approve via app. And it doesn’t resolve this issue. Still a daily struggle waiting for many minutes to be able to start a game on the board. If i go to the chessup app on the phone and click on chess.com i can start a game in seconds. So i’ve had to resort to starting the game that way. i can still play on the board, but there is no clock so i have to look at the phone side by side while playing on the board. This issue is extremely annoying. Perhaps you can take another look at it to see if something can be done?

i should clarify that after i sign out and sign back in, i can get a game started pretty quick, but then after a short while the behavior on the board reverts back to very slow game matching.

I will have the programmers take a look when they are back tomorrow. In the meantime I will share a video of how I am playing repeat games - you can try that.

What is the chess.com username?

It is certainly not required to sign out and in every time. If repeat play is not working for you we can troubleshoot it and get it resolved.

Jeff,

Sometimes the green pawn never shows up on the connection bar - the board will allow me to start matchmaking but it will never find a game. The green pawn returns only after restarting the board or renewing chesscom credentials.

I’m not 100 percent sure how to reliably reproduce but I think it has something to do with trying to start matchmaking once before you see the green pawn - and then it gets stuck that way until reset. It may or may not happen more commonly after a game abort and hastily trying to press play again.

So far I’ve been able to consistently get games by ALWAYS waiting for the green pawn to show before looking for a game.

I’ve waited for the green pawn but still see cases where no game starts

Thanks - we are checking it out now.

Resetting the board and giving it a minute should resolve stuck seeks until we push the updates.

^Yeah there is a specific flow people can get into where we are stuck switching between receive challenge and game seek. It is not supposed to get caught there, but we have seen a few reports now and have been able to reproduce it. So we are going to make the flows a little cleaner and also make game receive a clear menu option - and these issues should go away.

Have you guys found a solution for this issue?

Yes we published some changes to the game seek code.

I have the latest firmware update still no imepovement

I’ll have the programmers check the logs for your account for this weekend. Can you describe how you are launching the game seek?

Ok so turn on board, wait for Wi-Fi icon to show up indicating comms link is up.

Click chess.com button, wait for green pawn icon to appear, click play using 15+10 time control and then wait sometimes minutes, cancel repeat several times some times restart board just hit or miss

Next to the wifi symbol do you see a green dot before clicking on the chess.com button?

The green dot means you are connected to the chess.com servers. The green pawn means your board can accept chalanges between boards on chess.com.

So start board, wifi ok, green dot next to wifi and go into the chess.com section.

If that not work try the logout and re-login cycle.

I know it doesn’t help those who are having issues - but all is working fine for me.

Yes I see green dot next to wifi
